It’s a stressful time of year. The holidays are quickly approaching and there are a ton of extra activities on the schedule. I’m still trying to figure out where everything is going to fit in in my life…

The good news is, you can alleviate the stress you’re feeling and enjoy the chaos with natural (healthy) solutions!

Of course sugar and wine are options, but if you rely on those popular ways to unwind too often, your waistline is going to show it come January.

Thank goodness for Essential Oils!

I love to use EO blends to help reduce stress and balance my moods. The oils in these blends are specifically chosen to elicit profound emotional responses.

Here are my 5 favorite blends for reducing stress and anxious feelings and a suggested for use for each:

Balance Grounding Blend – Combines spruce, ho wood, frankincense, blue tansy, blue chamomile and osmanthus. Apply a drop to the bottoms of your feet before you get out of bed in the morning!

Citrus Bliss Invigorating Blend – Combines wild orange, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, tangerine, clementine with a hint of vanilla. Diffuse in the morning to uplift your mood and start your day on the right foot.

Elevation Joyful Blend – Combines lavendin, tangerine, lavender amyris, clary sage, Hawaiian sandalwood, ylang ylang, ho wood, osmanthus, lemon myrtle and melissa. Add to a diffuser bracelet or necklace to breathe in as needed throughout the day.

Peace Reassuring Blend – Combines vetiver, lavender, ylang ylang, frankincense, clary sage, marjoram, labdanum and spearmint. Diffuse in the afternoon in your office as you work.

Serenity Restful Blend – Combines lavender, cedarwood, ho wood, ylang ylang, marjoram, roman chamomile, vetiver, vanilla and Hawaiian sandalwood. Diffuse in your bedroom as you’re winding down for the night.

How do I choose which blend to use?

For me personally, it depends on which scent is most appealing to me at the time. Here’s my typical routine:

  • In the morning, I love using citrus oils that are also uplifting like Citrus Bliss and Elevation.
  • During the day, I will use the citrus blends, along with Balance (more of a woodsy scent) and Peace (florals and mints).
  • Serenity is very soothing and I commonly diffuse it at night.

I use all 5 oils both topically and aromatically, often mixing them together to create custom blends in roller balls (for topical use) or in my diffuser.

One roller ball blend I love:

  • 10 drops Balance
  • 10 drops Elevation
  • 10 drops Serenity
  • Fill the rest of a 10mL rollerball with fractionated coconut oil.

Apply topically to inner wrists, behind ears, and back of neck as needed throughout the day.
