I drink water all day long. Tons of it.
I definitely didn’t used to be this way (it was more like Diet Coke all day long!), but now I understand the benefits of water and have experienced the huge difference when I drink enough.
Water is key for high energy, weight loss, good digestion, reversing water retention (counter-intuitive, I know), and so much more. Once you start drinking half your body weight in ounces of water per day (or more), I promise you will feel the difference.
How do I make sure to drink enough? Well, I’m still not a fan of plain water. I drop in my favorite essential oils! A drop or 2 is all you need for great flavor in a 16-20 ounce water bottle (just be sure your water bottle is not plastic! Essential oils, especially citrus oils, can eat away at the plastic, causing you to drink chemicals you don’t want).
The bonus is, I also get the health benefit from the essential oil I choose!
Here are a few of my favorites to add to water:
Lemon – I used to cut a lot of fresh lemons, but now I use Lemon Essential Oil. It’s more convenient, less expensive, and provides more benefit. Lemon naturally cleanses the body, aids in digestion, and helps to manage sugar and food cravings. I add 2 drops to 2 cups of warm water first thing in the morning!
Grapefruit – This is such a refreshing flavor. Grapefruit is cleansing to the body, it supports a healthy metabolism, and it even helps reduce mental and physical fatigue.
Lime – I love Lime in still water, but I also like to add a drop to plain sparkling water. Lime provides antioxidant support, it acts as an internal cleanser, and it uplifts your mood! If you want to get really crazy, add 1 drop of lemon and 1 drop of lime to your water bottle:)
Slim & Sassy – This is my favorite essential oil for weight management. It promotes a healthy metabolism, helps to control food and sugar cravings, and settles the stomach. With the unique blend of grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, ginger, and cinnamon essential oils, it definitely has a unique flavor. I like to add a drop to my water in the afternoon to keep me from mindless snacking.
Peppermint – Peppermint is really effective for better digestion, so it’s a great oil to use after a meal. It’s also helpful for the occasional upset stomach. I love peppermint because it gives me a great energy boost, so it’s another favorite in the afternoon. Peppermint is nice to add to water in the summer for its cooling effects, and I like to add it to warm water in the winter for a powerful tea.
Wild Orange – Like Lime, Wild Orange contains powerful antioxidants. It’s a great support for a healthy immune system. Add it to your list of go-to’s!
