I’m crazy about my cleanse, but I’m not crazy, just to be clear.
I don’t think you have to drink green juice for 5 days to get amazing results. To me, that’s crazy. Unless your doctor prescribes an extreme diet program for a specific condition, the plans that require starving yourself are not necessary.
I have had well over 100 clients complete my 14-day real foods cleanses with fantastic results (and many clients come back every season). I myself do the program seasonally because I see so much benefit. Why do I love cleansing so much? Here’s what the program is really good at:
- Gives your Digestive System a Break Our bodies have cleansing organs that do a great job. If we lessen the load by cutting out foods that are forcing our bodies to work extra hard, we can do a better job of dealing with the every day toxins we take in that we can’t control (things like toxins from the air and things we don’t even think about like our eye shadow). *I have to mention that we can store 5-10 pounds of toxic waste in our digestive systems. Um gross, let’s support our bodies to clear that out.
- Changes Habits A 14-day interrupt in patterns is a great way to get out of some habits that aren’t doing you any favors. Maybe it’s eating too much sugar or drinking a few cups of coffee a day. For me, one square of dark chocolate becomes 2, then, 3, then, you know, it gets ugly. All of a sudden I’m eating chocolate out of habit without even thinking about it. Whatever that habit is for you, now is the time to change it and move closer to your goals.
- You Ditch Sugar, Chemical “foods” and Caffeine See #2. I’m going to lovingly suggest that these are three habits you may want to interrupt. Your energy levels will thank you.
- You Discover your Problem Foods Is gluten a big deal for you? Eggs? Nuts? I don’t know, try a 14-day cleanse and start to listen to the signals your body is giving you. Your daily congestion may be the result of dairy. Who knows? I just know that low energy, although common, is not normal. Uncover food intolerances that could be causing symptoms and figure out how to eat to support your unique body.
