Aaaah, magical diffuser blends. I love the word magical, and it’s how I feel about diffusing essential oils! Smell actually affects your physical and emotional health. It’s crazy. After 3 years, I’m still amazed that essential oils actually work like this. 🙂
Your smell receptors, located on the upper surface of the nasal cavity, make direct links with the limbic system of the brain, an area that governs the body’s emotional responses.
In addition to influencing the limbic region of the brain, olfactory centers are also linked with the hypothalamus, which controls physiologic functions throughout the body.
I’m personally not as interested in HOW it works as much as I am THAT it works.
To benefit from essential oils aromatically, you can simply breathe in essential oils from your hands, a cotton ball, or even from the bottle. But I love diffusing. Here’s the thing with diffusers… they make the whole room smell amazing while providing health benefits to everyone in the room.
How do you know what to diffuse? You choose oils based on your desired benefit. For instance, if you are un-winding for the night and need calming support, choose a grounding wood oil or calming floral oil that you are intuitively drawn to. Mix them together. You can’t go wrong!
Here’s a basic guide to help you choose oils:
Remember a little oil goes a long way.
You don’t need to load up your diffuser with a ton of oil. For most diffuser models, 4-7 drops is plenty.
It is better to diffuse a short time more often than to have a diffuser run constantly. Your body can only take in so many signals! If your diffuser runs constantly, try diffusing for just 10 minutes of the hour.

Dinner Odors be Gone 3-4 drops Purify
Sunshine Blend 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Wild Orange, 2 drops Grapefruit
Morning Jumpstart 3 drops Wild Orange, 2 drops Peppermint, 1 drop Frankincense
Springtime Relief 2 drops lemon, 2 drops peppermint, 2 drops lavender
*If you don’t have the oils listed but you want the benefit, use the oils you have for a similar diffuser blend! Example: For the Uplifting Blend.. if you don’t have Citrus Bliss or Spearmint yet, simply use Wild Orange and Peppermint instead! No Purify? Use Lemon, Melaleuca, and Cilantro.
